The power we hold....

The power we hold....

Last week I was thinking back to when I was approaching graduation of my degree.

I was in the kitchen with Dad.

He had a serious but excited look on his face.

He said something I will never forget.

"Son, over your generation, we will see by far, the greatest advancement of technology by far, it will shock you".

At the time I didn't really think much of it.

Being focused on computers and machines, I thought about this big statement by Dad a long time — not really knowing what he meant.

Then it hit me years later.

Nothing can be more powerful than the ability to talk to machines.

Software has the ability to deploy limitless power.

In the old world, whoever controlled the land with infantry, had the upper hand.

During world war 2... It was the air.

Today it's all about cyberspace, the virtual world is becoming, less virtual...

If you think about it deeper...

Programmers essentially control the world,

Think about the world we are building, bots, automation, smart phones in every-hand....

Artificial intelligence at our fingertips on standby...

Seemingly Limitless computing power with endless storage capacity to understand vast datasets....

The LLM Stack

But I want to be honest, AI as a technology does frighten me.

It is no secret that AI developments even scares the engineers working on it.

They don't know how the world will change.

I have faith in humanity, that in the right hands AI will benefit us far more than cripple us. Besides, you can't stop it, so as the saying goes "If you can't beat em, join em".

You must weigh up the good with the bad.

Making better business, investment and health decisions will outweigh the down sides.

Already we are seeing a large adoption curve across a range of industries.

In particular programmers, software development and even retail.

Next are stock traders, and the commodities markets.

We must have more eyes watching this space to ensure we open source more of these models.

This improves security, user privacy, transparency and trust.

Open source, is always going to allow engineers to audit the code to ensure there are no loopholes and threats.

As I write this, I am drafting a short digital book on large language models and the impacts of AI on certain industries.

The aim is to take the mystery and magic away from the underlying tech and equip business owners with tools to optimise their business processes.

I look forward to releasing this soon to assist business owners augment their operations and improve overall processes...

Onward and upward...
